About Us

Who We Are

Love Acts was formed after a mission trip in 2018 to visit Nairobi, Kenya. We visited Cherish Watoto Kenya, formerly known as Cheryl’s Children’s Home,  and the slums of Kibera. After seeing firsthand the conditions of the slums that these children have come from and the poverty that exists we knew we needed to do something. God has not called us to be on the sidelines. We want to do something to help these children.  Cherish was an orphanage and school that helped many children, most of whom have been victims of emotional or physical abuse by their parents, have been living in extreme poverty without food or clean water, or have lost one or both parents to AIDS or other diseases. During this visit, we witnessed first-hand how children struggle against the forces of extreme poverty, disease, and abandonment. There are shortages in clean water and food to feed the children, as well as challenges in the education, health, and housing of these children. Healthcare needs cannot be a priority given that basic nutrition and hygiene needs are often neglected due to lack of funding or availability of clean water. All of these are necessary elements for a productive future. Yet, given these circumstances, what the children want most is what all humans desire: love and affection through personal attention. Love Acts was created from the desire to help children in Kenya.

The name Love Acts reminds us that we are called to act out of love for others. The Bible says in Hebrews 10:24, “Let us think of ways to motivate one another to acts of love and good works.” The goal of Love Acts is to raise funds that can be mobilized to demonstrate the love of God to those in greatest need.
